Welcome
Welcome from the Principal, Ros Allen
It is a great privilege to be the Principal of Weydon School. I am delighted to lead a community which is united around a clear set of values with such a wonderful tradition of academic excellence based on an ambitious and stimulating curriculum. The state of the art facilities provide a vast array of extra-curricular opportunities and it is a school in which students are cared for and inspired by a passionate and talented staff body, to achieve more than they ever thought possible when they arrived.
More than a decade of headship has taught me that academic success only comes when students feel safe and happy, when they are able to engage in activities which bring joy, develop character, resilience and empathy, which allow them to make great friends and which encourage them to become thoughtful and active citizens, who feel empowered to make a positive difference to their local and wider community. However, we are also unashamed of our high expectations of our students, with whom it is a delight to work, and who rise to the challenges we set them cheerfully, positively and successfully.
Weydon is a large school, but is a community that cares for the individuals within it. We seek to notice and to nurture our students, to understand and to celebrate our differences and to realise there is so much more that unites us than divides us, as we seek to foster a sense of belonging for all. Central to this is our partnership with parents and carers which we know is crucial in helping students achieve their full potential.
We are immensely proud of the members of our community, our facilities, and the achievements of our students in and out of the classroom, but we are not complacent and are relentless in our pursuit of excellence in all that we do.
Our classroom doors are always open, and you are welcome to visit at any time.
We look forward to welcoming you to our school.
