Return of Class 2021
Weydon School’s Class of 2021 Return to School
To celebrate the Class of 2021, Weydon School organised two events to celebrate their achievements. Due to Covid, the school decided to split these events to allow safety measures to be implemented by reducing the numbers of people in one place.
Firstly, a Prize Giving event was held for 44 award winners celebrating their achievements.
Prizes were awarded for subjects and a selection of Weydon awards were given. This year, the Surrey Millennium Shield for the highest level of achievement was jointly awarded to two students who both attained the highest level of GCSE results, Antonia Lunn and Tom Ahlheid. Other prizes awarded included; The Farnham Lions award for Community Service and the McNulty Cup for Perseverance.
Held in Weydon School’s Medici Theatre for the first time, it was a lovely evening and the award winners were celebrated by their parents and Weydon school staff.
Weydon School’s Principal, Mrs Jackie Sharman handed out the awards and congratulated each student, Mrs Sharman commented: “This is such an honour to be able to welcome back these students who achieved so much during a really tough year. I am immensely proud of their success so far and don’t doubt they will continue positively on their journey through hard work and commitment.”
Following this event, the whole cohort were invited back in to collect their GCSE certificates and say one final farewell to the school. Their Progress & Achievement Leaders, Miss Smith and Mrs Islip welcomed them back to school along with Mr Wish, Assistant Principal who also greeted the ex-students as they returned and commented; “It was a shame we had to split these two events this year but it was so lovely to see so many of our ex-students returning to the school. They had a really challenging year and they all worked so hard to attain such great results. We wish them well as they move onto their next ventures.”
