Prize Giving 2022

Jo Fairley Inspires Weydon School Prize Winners

Weydon School was delighted to host its annual Prize-Giving event recently with special guest, Mrs Jo Fairley.  Driven by her commitment to organic food production and greener business practices, Jo co-founded Green & Blacks in 1991 alongside her husband. Three decades later the organic food range is worth over £20 million and has been named the UK’s Coolest Food Brand for eleven consecutive years by Coolbrands Survey.

The evening was hosted by the new Head Boy, Ben Thompson and new Head Girl, Pheobe Foskett. The winning students were congratulated by the Principal, Mrs Jackie Sharman and Jo Fairley.

The students’ achievements were celebrated in front of their parents and Weydon School staff.  The applause rang out while the students collected their prizes and their parents were clearly delighted and proud of their children for their outstanding achievements.  It is evident that the evening serves a purpose for not only rewarding the students’ successes but for inspiring them, and others, to continually strive to achieve their best.

Jo gave an inspiring and heart-warming presentation to the students which included some thought-provoking life lessons. Being kind and thinking of others was at the heart of her words to the students and guests.

Jo added a great deal to the celebratory feel and uplifting atmosphere which is synonymous with this event. Mrs Jackie Sharman, Principal commented: “The event was a very warm and uplifting evening which provided an opportunity for our Weydon scholars to enjoy their successes. Jo was an inspiration to the students and talked positively about the challenges facing you on your road to success. We are so grateful to Jo for her time and for her inspirational presentation at this event. I am very proud of all the students and their achievements which they have attained through hard work.”

This annual event is an evening of celebration and the students win prizes for achievement within a subject area, for progress, effort and special ‘Weydon Academy Awards’.
