Children's Mental Health Awareness Week
For Children's Mental Health Awareness Week, 4-9 February 2019, we are running activities based on the theme of Healthy: Inside & Out to promote healthy eating and sleeping patterns, balanced with adequate exercise and physical activity.
Throughout the week we are exploring the theme of Healthy: Inside and Out during tutor times, to help students understand and explore issues such as screen time, the role food plays in promoting mental health and emotional wellbeing and the importance of being active to improve mood, stamina and concentration.
Additionally, we are launching the opportunity for students to access Kooth online counselling sessions while in school and adding to existing resources relating to mental health & wellbeing in our learning resource centre (LRC). This includes a 'tree of growth', which will be permanently positioned in the LRC for students to post thoughts and comments on specified themes around mental health/wellbeing throughout the year.
If you would like to know more about any of these initiatives, please speak to your relevant tutor, PAL or contact the school counsellors (Lisa Fairhead/Monica Bloomfield).
