New Gym/Dance Studio Build

Exciting plans are afoot at Weydon School for the community of Farnham.

Weydon School is a hub for community enrichment in the area with facilities that include world class  All Weather Sports pitches and the state of the art Medici Theatre.

As a school we pride ourselves on offering affordable enrichment to the adults and young people in Farnham and the surrounding areas.  We consider it both a responsibility and privilege to offer activities that develop healthy bodies and minds for all.

In our quest to continue to develop our enrichment offer further we have now set ourselves the goal of creating a new building which will be a bespoke dance and sport facility for our school and wonderful town.

As a result of a survey of our families we have established that overwhelmingly trampolining, dance and table tennis were identified as areas where there is a need for greater provision and in turn will ensure that more residents in our community are able to lead healthy, active and fulfilled lives.  The facility would have multiple use and could offer Pilates, Yoga and Aerobics to name but a few. Not everyone enjoys team sports and we believe this new facilities will mean the needs of more people are met.

As a school we are committed to providing the children of Farnham a wide range of activities and wonderful facilities to encourage positive engagement and we hope, develop health habits that stay with them for life.

Dance &  Trampolining can enhance motor skills, improve balance and co-ordination, are a great stress reliever, builds confidence, strengthens the immune system, makes you happy and builds self-confidence and self-esteem to name but a few.

Trampolining, Dance and Table Tennis have also been shown to  have great benefits for children with special needs; as part of the WMAT group of school, which includes several special schools we care passionately about making sure our offering is inclusive to all and as such offer enrichment opportunities to the children and adults  in this sector.

To progress our plans we are working closely with trampolining and dance specialists, who are excited by the project and agree that there is a need for such a facility in our town.  The school has an outstanding track record of breaking gender stereotypes, for example by encouraging boys to embrace a passion for dance.

The school has already started a Just Giving crowdfunding page:
