Weydon School is named the top performing school in The Sunday Times Schools Guide 2020

Weydon 1

The country’s top performing schools have been revealed in the prestigious Sunday Times Parent Power Schools Guide. With 45.1% of students achieving GCSE A*/A/9/8/7, Weydon School in Farnham has risen from 4th position last year to 1st place in the 2020 rankings when listed against similar schools.

Weydon is also ranked number one school in the country in the Attainment 8 rankings for similar schools generated by the Department for Education. The Attainment 8 score is based on how well students have performed in up to 8 qualifications, which include English, Maths, 3 English Baccalaureate qualifications (including sciences, computer science, history, geography and languages) and 3 other additional approved qualifications.

Principal, Jackie Sharman said ‘I am tremendously proud to have the privilege of leading the school. Weydon’s top position reflects the dedication and hard work of students, colleagues and parents in pursuing the highest levels of achievement and is a significant factor in enabling our students to secure places at the colleges of their choice and the world’s best universities when the time comes.’

Mrs Sharman is equally proud that the class of 2019 took advantage of the many other worthwhile activities on offer at Weydon, contributing to making them the confident, able and responsible citizens they are today. The students enjoyed sporting success at the highest levels, international trips to Ghana, Sri Lanka, Australia, Germany, France and Italy, produced incredible performances of Les Miserables, Billy Elliot and Chicago in their amazing Medici Theatre and much, much more.

The Parent Power rankings are determined by the percentage of GCSE entries awarded A* and A grades, or their numerical equivalents.
