The power and magic of words by poet Adisa

Performance Poet Adisa “the Verbaliser” returned to Weydon to launch the Year 9 Poetry Slam competition and absolutely blew the students away with his character, humour and talent in an incredible performance poetry session.  Adisa engaged with the students getting them to challenge the way they think about the world and covered a wide range of subjects in his poetry from politics and racism to food and love.  This is the third visit Adisa has made to Weydon since the competition was launched during the Covid lockdown in 2021 when he appeared via Zoom and the competition has gone from strength to strength.  LRC Manager, Angela Daniels said “it is simply a wonderful opportunity for the students to witness an amazing performer; it is not often you are made to think and to laugh at the same time.  The result is some incredible poetry written by the students about the things that really matter to them”.
